RAID Data Recovery

RAID recovery procedures involve determining the damage, source of the problem, and how much data can be extracted. For serious failure, this may involve careful disassembly and extensive manual repair in our clean room. Our lab supports RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 2, RAID 3, RAID 4, RAID 5, RAID 0+1, RAID 1+0, and RAID 5+0.

We use complex data recovery methods to safely and securely restore your business-critical data and mission-critical files from the following types of data loss:

  • Hardware conflicts
  • Software corruption
  • RAID controller failure
  • Rebuild failure
  • Damaged striping
  • Multiple drive failure (when multiple drives go offline)
  • RAID array or volumes that won’t mount after a server crash
  • Configuration corruption
  • Addition of incompatible drives
  • Software or operating system upgrades

Damage to individual disks can cause the whole array to fail because data spans across multiple hard drives (called “striping”), and when any of those hard drives become damaged, the system can no longer “find” necessary files.

Other factors that could cause a RAID array to become unusable could include:

  • Power failure
  • Back-up that may have been restored unsuccessfully
  • Malicious human intervention
  • System updates
  • Viruses
  • Boot drive failure
  • Natural disaster
